Character Name: Larentia Sercio
Nickname: LarenBirth Date: July 18
God of Worship: Thorinda
Physical Appearance:
Laren is on the small size, standing only 5'2" tall with a slender body frame, although she has curves in all the right places. She has long straight brown hair that reaches her waist and mysterious wolfish gray eyes. She wears her hair down with her bangs a little wild. Her skin is generally always lightly tanned due to all the time she spends out of doors.
She is a modest dresser, tending to go for dresses with the occasional skirts over pants. In fact she doesn't really like wearing pants. However, all of her clothes are loose fitting so that she can easily move in them. Her preferred colors are varying shades of blues, grays, browns, and whites.
The only jewelry that Laren wears is a thin silver necklace with a small wolf charm on it. The wolf's eyes are two perfect tiny sapphires, while the rest is finely crafted silver.
Personality:
Larentia is a sweet and caring girl, however she is a very complex girl, showing different personalities depending on whatever is going on at the time.
Larentia is timid and shy around people she doesn't know very well, which kind of makes her chosen occupation difficult. She loves to help people however, caring for the welfare of even the strangers she meets. Therefore, she has done her best to overcome her natural shy and timid ness ... however it does crop up occasionally even if she tries to hide it. Her favorite thing to do is singing and she is exceptionally gifted in it. She will often use this talent of hers to help her 'speak' to the people and get across any particular message she wants delivered. In fact, singing helps her to forget the fact that there are crowds of people watching her. When she is singing she can forget the fact that she is shy and timid; allowing her to be the kind of herald, or Songstress as many call her now, that she has always wanted to be.
She is relatively cheerful, but she hides her emotions well. After all she doesn't want to bring attention to herself. When it comes to people she knows well, Larentia is completely different. She is very talkative and friendly to anyone she views as a friend.
Larentia is extremely fond of nature and animals. She gets along exceedingly well with animals, most especially the canine varieties. For this reason she has chosen to worship Thorinda above all others, but she also does pay homage to any of the gods that have the same alignments.
History:
Laren's parents were both citizens of Istepp, in fact their home was located in the capital, Nagoa, itself. They were both part of the Ecclesiastical social class and prided themselves on being the perfect citizens living the prefect lives.
However, the one thing that brought saddness in to their home was the fact that they had no children. They were getting on in years, though not so old that they were past the child bearing years, when the gods took pity on them and blessed them with a daughter.
The little girl was born in Maximillian the Redeemer's reign. Thus, she knew not of the evils of the world, which Dante the Fool made so clear. Her parents, although they taught her everything they knew ... they chose not to enlighten her on some of the things they had learned from Dante the Fool's reign.
As the child grew it became apparent that she was unusually shy and timid, although she still seemed to care about others welfare. She always hung on the edge of crowds helping others when she could before scurrying off to some small hiding place only she knew of.
Her parents felt terrible for the girl because they could tell that she most desired to be out and about helping others. Finally around her 10th birthday her parents had a long talk with her, explaining that it wasn't right to always run from the hard tasks in life. They told her that if she were always running from people then she would never be able to have a full life, nor would she be able to accomplish anything in life.
Her mother told her that if there was something in life that she really desperately wanted then she would find a way to deal with it. Her father told her that he would be proud of her no matter what she did with her life, but that he hoped that she would have the courage to live up to everything she could do.
It was from that time on that Larentia began doing her best to overcome being so shy and timid. It was hard, but eventually she began to realize that she was actually gifted with a beautiful voice, as well as the ability to use this talent of hers to help her 'speak' to the people and get across any particular message she wants delivered. She soon discovered that when she sang, she could actually forget the crowds of people watching her.
As she grew she read everything she could get her hands on that would help her to become a better herald, which is the goal that she had decided to work toward. She knew that heralds always saw to the kingdom's people, working for their welfare, acting as a link between the people and their ruler. This became her dream in life and she did everything she could to work toward it, eventually going on to study at the Imperial Culture Institute ...
Once Larentia had trained to be the very best herald that she could be, she gathered her courage and headed toward the gates of the Imperial Palace of Istepp. This was the kingdom that she had grown up in, the kingdom that she loved and most desired to help ... and so that meant of course that she must get a job working for Emperor Go-Mikao.
