Current Location: Trista

Appearance:

Celeste has long curly blonde hair that reaches to the middle of her back. She usually allows most of it to fall loose around her shoulders, only pinning the front ends back so that it doesn’t get into her face. However, on special occasions she will wear it up in a carefully arranged style. Whatever the case, she always makes certain her hair is immaculately groomed and never a hair out of place.

At 5'6, Celeste stands a whole foot smaller then her brother. She has a slender body frame, although she has curves in all the right places. Her skin tone, although not tanned is not pale either. She has blue eyes that shine brightly with every one of her emotions. She’s one of those people that cannot mask her emotions, because whatever she is thinking shines clearly within her gaze. When she is angry, her eyes darken to a much deeper blue, but she generally doesn’t really get angry ... unless it’s at her husband.

Celeste wears gowns befitting her station in life. Everything she wears is of the finest silk or other fine material and tailored to fit her perfectly.

Personality:

Celeste has a bright personality and a love of life. She is very headstrong and tends to expect things to go her way. She is friendly to a fault and will even strike up a conversation with someone she has only just met, including any of her husbands subjects. She also has a love of being outside and can often be found walking around on her husband's estates just enjoying herself.

Celeste does not like the games of court. She hates thinking about the power struggles that she knows goes on between the different houses, but even more then that she hates the spiteful gossip and lies that spread through court designed solely to ruin a person. She also hates watching her husband flirt with other woman, knowing that they more then likely be enticed into his bed. Although she hates her husband, she believes in loyalty to a marriage. The fact that he doesn’t feel the same bothers her more then she’d like to admit.

Celeste hates knowing that other people are in pain. It bothers her a lot whenever she hears about the times Victor makes an example of whomever crossed him. She knows that her husband doesn’t mind being cruel to the people he thinks need to be punished.

Celeste knows that she has a lovely figure and at times can be a bit vain, only wanting the best clothes made out of the finest materials. However despite that she isn't afraid of getting dirty or anything. She has been taught that proper ladies do not dig around in the dirt and so she usually doesn't help the caretakers with the gardens, but every now and then she can't help herself.

Because of her love of people, Celeste adores playing hostess. She loves whenever Victor throws a lavish party, or even when they are invited to parties, simply because it means she can socialize with other people. Whenever she is in the public eye...such as at festivals or dinner parties, she does her best to act like a proper wife..knowing that she could get into serious trouble if she didn't. However, all the while she is despising her husband in every way that she can.

Celeste hates her husband with every fiber of her being. In the public eye she might act like a loving and obedient wife, but in private she will fight him in every way that she can. Including attempting to teach her sons to treat people better whenever she gets the chance to do so.

History:

Celeste Sterlyn Castell was born in 981 to Connor and Sylvya Sterlyn. She was the younger sister to Alrik and she adored him for as long as she could remember. When she was little, it was to him that she brought all of her childish hurts and woes, instead of to either her parents or her nannies. When she was only five years old, her grandfather Merquis Sterlyn died and her father took the throne. Although she was saddened that a member of her family had gone away, she really didn’t understand much of what was going on at the time and so she wasn’t greatly bothered.

In her sixth year however, everything changed. Her brother no longer had the time to play with her because he was off learning the things he needed to learn in order to eventually become a king. Celeste was lonely for a time, until she met a new friend.

She had been sitting outside near one of the ponds watching the fish swim about and feeling rather sad and lonely. Although there was a bench nearby, Celeste had curled up on the ground itself not caring in the slightest that edges of her gown was trailing in the mud at the water’s edge. Her cheeks were smudged with frustrated tears. Her nannies continuously told her that Alrik was busy learning the things he needed to know so that he could grow into a fine king one day. They didn’t seem to care that while sh did understand that he was now too busy to play, it didn’t stop the fact that she missed him terribly.

It was around this time that another little girl wandered over to sit beside her. The girl seemed to be only a little older then her and it soon became apparent to Celeste that she belonged to one of the castle servants. The girl introduced herself as Maija, the gardener’s daughter before promptly asking why Celeste was upset.

As Celeste really could care less that Maija was a servant’s child, she immediately begin to explain to her new friend about her brother being too busy with his lessons these days to pay attention to her. She told her that the nannies couldn’t seem to understand that she was lonely and missing him, that nobody understood. Maija shook her head, red curls bouncing messily, and told her that it wasn’t true that nobody understood. She was far from being the only one to miss a big brother, lots of people went through the same thing. Maija immediately informed her that her own big brother didn’t have much time to spend with her anymore because he had a family of his own to take care of. It was hard getting use to it, but she would find other friends. They could be friends if she really wanted to.

Maija had to go off and help her father work in the gardens soon after that, but the two girls became fast friends. Whenever she had the chance Celeste would sneak off down to the gardens to play with Maija. Her new friend was often busy with garden chores, but as often as she could get away with it Celeste would help her with them so that they could play. During this time Celeste not only found a new friend, she also developed a love of gardening. Maija’s father was a little uneasy allowing the princess to actually work in the gardens with his daughter, but as both little girls seemed happy he didn’t complain too much.

Maija also introduced her to the other children that lived at the castle giving her even more new playmates, though known so close as Maija herself was. Her nannies constantly told her that she should be careful while playing with the servant children. They always told her that she was a princess while they were servant children, they were beneath her in many aspects. However, she didn’t see what was so wrong with it. They were children just like she was and if she didn’t play with them then who would she play with? The only differences that she could see was that she had to take lessons in etiquette and in all the things a well bred lady should know, while they did not. They went through trials and tribulations the same as any noble person. Some of the troubles that the commoners had to deal with she wouldn’t ever have to deal with, such as not having enough food for their tables .... she had heard one or two of the servants talking to one another on occasion while she ghosted about the castle looking for something to do. On the other hand, sometimes their troubles were remarkably like her own, such as missing a big brother and feeling a little lonely. It was true that they had to work as hard as their parents while she didn’t, but as far as she could see that didn’t matter much. They were fun to play with and she didn’t mind disobeying her nannies whenever she got the chance to do so.

When Celeste was nine years old, Sylvya Sterlyn produced a second son and a second daughter. However, Celeste was too far interested in her new friends to take much notice of a couple of children so much younger then herself. To make matters worse, her father, Connor, couldn’t quite keep it in his pants," so to speak. Celeste didn't even know how many or where her bastard brothers and sisters were. To be entirely honest, she didn’t really want to know much about them. the thought that her father was so unfaithful made her uncomfortable and so she didn’t really want to know much about them. It wasn’t that she blamed the children produced, it was just that her beliefs of being faithful to whomever you married were so strong that the thought of her father being unfaithful made her too uncomfortable to even want to think about it.

On her tenth birthday, Celeste’s father told her that she was going to be married to Victor Castell, a man she had never met. At that age Celeste was like many a girl and had romantic dreams of marrying someone she really loved and the thought of being forced to marry someone she had never even met bothered her a great deal. She begged her father to reconsider, to let her find that one guy that was meant for her and that would make her happy. For once her father refused to give in to her tears and told her that it was necessary. This union would hopefully bring the two houses together and that was something that had to be done. Eventually Celeste gave in to her father’s demands, letting the matter drop knowing that she didn’t have a choice in the matter. She knew better then to argue with her father when he was that serious about something. Besides, perhaps this Victor would be everything she dreamed about.

At fourteen she was introduced to her betrothed for the first time. Celeste certainly wasn’t immune to his looks and like most of the girls around her she found him irresistibly attractive. She couldn’t deny that he was handsome, but was he the guy that she was dreaming off?

In her seventeenth year, Maija married a local farmer moving out of the castle and onto her new husband’s land. While Celeste was happy for her friend, especially since Maija was able to marry for love, she missed her terribly. It was a lot harder to be able to meet when Maija didn’t live in the castle anymore. Celeste still visited Maija’s father on a daily basis however and helped him do some of the gardening whenever she was able.

When she turned eighteen, Celeste was finally old enough to be married. She was given a grand wedding in her very own home before traveling back to Trista with her new husband. At first, Victor was a very charming man with his poetic phrases and what she viewed as a loving nature. She could have fallen in love with him very easily, however this side of Victor didn’t last. The moment they arrived in his home he changed completely. He became a man that she soon began to despise more then anything else. Although she had to allow him in her bed whenever he wanted and she had to put up with his bedding other woman whenever he desired them, she found other ways to oppose his wishes. Whenever she was in the public eye she pretended to be the perfect wife, but whenever they were in the privacy of their own home she did everything within her power to let him know how much she hated him.

Three years later, there was both cause to celebrate and a cause to mourn. Her father, Connor Sterlyn passed away making her brother the new king. Celeste hadn’t been able to be there when her father died, nor was she able to be there when her mother died of grief a few days later. This saddened her a lot. She had loved her parents greatly and it made it even worse that she hadn’t been able to be there for them during these last few days. However, this was also the year that her beloved twin sons, Bradyn and Ryndor were born. Celeste cherished these little boys very much, even if their father was someone that she hated.

During the next few years, Celeste spent as much time with her sons as her duties as the lady of the house allowed. She did everything she could to try to teach them right from wrong, but most especially she tried to teach them to treat people far better then their father did. However, she never attempted this within sight of Victor knowing it would seriously anger him and would probably cause him to strike out at her.

Five years later, Celeste gave birth to a beautiful little girl that was given the name Rilynn. Rilynn, just like her brothers, became her mother’s pride and joy. Celeste loved having a little girl, especially since she wouldn’t be forced to watch her learn the kinds of things that Victor delighted in doing.

These days Celeste still spends her time either pretending to be the perfect wife or doing everything possible to anger her husband. She never lets on to anyone other then Victor that she unhappy, especially not her brother. Her favorite things to do is hosting parties, playing with her children, or admiring the gardens around her home.

Writing Sample:

Celeste knelt in the garden, carefully pulling a few weeds that were choking some of her favorite flowers. She knew perfectly well that she should leave this to the gardeners, but she was upset and this more then anything helped to calm her. Besides, it would probably annoy her husband to find her doing a chore that he thought of as beneath someone of their station. That only made the activity more enjoyable, especially since it was him that she was upset over. To be more exact it was her sons, but that could easily be traced back to her husband.

She had caught both Bradyn and Ryndor taunting a little servant boy and causing him to cry. Apparently the twins had convinced the boy to play some sort of game that they had devised amongst themselves. When the smaller boy was unable to keep up with them, they had done everything within their power to make him feel miserable. Celeste was only glad that they had kept to words and not done truly harmful to the boy.

After comforting the servant boy and sending him back to his parents, Celeste had turned to her sons and tried to make them understand that they shouldn’t treat others in this way. She tried to teach them the same values her father had held dear. That it was far better to protect those weaker then yourselves. It didn’t matter that the boy didn’t have the same station in life that they did. He was younger and smaller then they were and that meant that they shouldn’t pick on him.

Bradyn and Ryndor had both been contrite as their mother scolded them. They had listened and promised to never do it again. The boys had even seemed to understand why their mother was so upset. However, Celeste knew that they still idolized their father and she wasn’t at all certain that her lessons were reaching them.

She sighed to herself and brushed a stray strand of hair out of her eyes. They were still young yet, hopefully she still had time to teach them the right way to be. Celeste really didn’t want her beloved sons to grow up just like their father. She would just have to watch them more closely and try to teach them the values that she had grown up with.

Celeste glanced at the sun and determined that it was probably time for her to get back inside. As much fun as it was to work in the gardens, it probably wasn’t a good idea to let Victor catch her out here. She didn’t mind getting Victor angry at herself, but she couldn’t risk that he wouldn’t take out his anger on the gardeners for allowing her to work in the dirt.
