Character: Sailor Moon
Character Name: Ariene Amaris PaytonMeaning: Silvery Child of the Moon Guardian
Nickname: Ari (although only her family and closest friends call her this)
Birthday: June 30
Sign: Cancer
Age: 17
Appearance:
Ariene has long silver white hair that falls to her ankles in soft waves. She usually lets her hair remain unbound and loose just like a little girl or a pixi might do .. even if it does make her look younger then she actually is. Her eyes are a clear, deep, crystal blue that shine brightly with everyone of her emotions..she's one of those people that can not mask her emotions, because whatever she is thinking shines clearly within her gaze.
She is very small in stature, only averaging at 4'9". She has a slender figure, although she is graced with very attractive curves.
Ariene is the very picture of innocence and light. She resembles a pixi or a fairy of sorts..with her slender build, silverish hair, and her bright fathomless eyes.
She is pale..but not sickly pale, she just has clear almost translucent pale skin, long lashes, pouty lips, and delicate features..kind of like a china doll.
Ariene usually wears the normal attire that you might find on a girl of her class and station in life. However, what she would really like to wear is men's clothing. She isn't particularly fond of wearing dresses, simply because they get in her way when she is trying out things that men usually do.
Ariene's most treasured object is a delicate silver chain with a silver crescent for a charm. This was her mother's and Ariene has no intention of losing it. However, due to the worth of the chain ... Ariene usually keeps it hidden under her collar. Although, because she loves her husband so very much ... if he ever asked her to do so, she would give it to him to sell or whatever he desired.
Personality:Ariene has a bright personality and a love of life. She is friendly to a fault and will even chatter on about different things to a complete stranger. She also has a love of being outside and can often be found walking around outside, just enjoying herself.
Ariene has an adventurous spirit and doesn't like to be confined for very long. She would much rather be outside then stuck in a building somewhere. She finds the normal things that women do tedious and would much rather be exploring the nearby forests then knitting on something. Ariene can't stand knitting, or anything else that a woman would normally like to do.
Ariene has pretty much grown up in the forests and knows just about every inch of it by heart. She adores being in there and will often try to convince her husband ... or her friend/boss Serafina to leave the safety of village and roam about in the forests outside of the village. On the occasions that she can't convince them to join her and when she could get away without being stopped, Ariene will often go herself.
Ariene was never taught how to ride a horse, although she learned for herself ... simply because she loved the animals. However, she can't understand riding sidesaddle .. so she doesn't do it. She was never fond of fishing or hunting and would always steer clear of her brothers when they were doing so. However, if they were simply out for an adventure .. then she would tag along.
She is really an innocent in the way that she thinks and often puts herself into some hurtful situations because she finds it hard to believe that people would want to hurt her. Not only that, but Ariene can be very sensitive when it comes to how people act around her. If they are mean ... she can be very quick to feel hurt and start crying.
Ariene is fiercely protective of the people she loves. Therefore, if someone that she loves is in danger, she will fight to keep them safe.
She believes in trusting someone until they prove untrustworthy and she also believes in making people smile. If she sees a child crying ... or a person that is down for some reason ... Ariene will go against the very rules she is forced to live by and do her best to comfort them, whether they are people from the higher class, from her own class, or even people in a lower class then she is.
However, if Ariene believes that someone is doing something wrong .. such as mistreating an animal, then she doesn't hesitate to let them know what she things. She won't soften her words either ... she'll tell a person exactly what she thinks of them, even when its a person that is from a higher class then her own.
Dreams/Goals:Ariene's dream is to one day join King Arthur's circle of knights. She dreams for a life of adventure and danger. However, because she is a girl, as well as coming from a poor family, Ariene will never be able to achieve this dream.
History:Ariene was the only daughter to poor farmer, although she had 3 older brothers. Her mother died giving birth to her, although before she died, she gave the necklace that Ariene always wears to her husband to give to the baby when she was old enough to have it.
Her father, Alan Payton, raised his 4 children as best as he could. However, coming from a family that had only had boys ... Alan didn't really know how to raise a daughter. He let her do whatever she wanted and this included running wild throughout the forests, just like her older brothers.
The only thing that Alan insisted on, was that Ariene never cut her hair, as well as learn a few womanly things from his neighbor's wife that had taken pity on the poor man. This woman, Farrel's mother, taught Ariene how to sew, cook, dress like a lady, and all the other things that a growing girl should learn ... although she generally refuses to do them if she can get away with it.
When she wasn't learning horribly boring skills from Farrel's mother, Ariene tagged along with the boys (her 3 older brothers and Farrel himself). She followed them everywhere they went, unless they were off to go hunting, ... even though they were all 2 to 5 years older then her.
As time went on and Ariene and Farrel grew quite close. Although they never thought of one another as anything except for the best friend they had ever had, their parents were beginning to make the arrangements to have them marry each other.
The three adults knew that Ariene and Farrel might not realize they loved each other, but that there was something more then friendship between the two. Finally on Ariene's 15th birthday, Alan Payton broke the news to his wild daughter.
She immediately balked at the idea and told her father that she couldn't possibly marry Farrel. He was her best friend and nothing more then that. However as much as she hated the idea, fearing that it might break the very close friendship that she did have with Farrel, she was married to him.
The relationship settled down into something that each figured would just be great friendship for the rest of eternity. They both grew to accept the idea, after all ... their parents could have married them to people that they would have hated. At least this way ... they actually got along well together.
Eventually, the two of them discovered what their parents had already known ... their friendship was actually much more then that. Ariene realized that she was desperately in love with Farrel and he with her.
She still considers him to be her best friend, but he's also the greatest love of her life and she will do anything to please him.
When they were married, they moved to their new cottage in the village owned by the man Farrel would be working for. In order to help bring money into the household to pay for thier home and much needed items, Ariene became a handmaiden to the lady of the house ... Serafina. Being the cheerful and friendly person that she normally was, Ariene soon became fast friends with Serafina.
Where are they now?:Ariene lives with her husband in a small cottage on the outskirts of the village owned by the man her husband works for. They aren't the richest of people, but Ariene is quite happy with her life the way it is ... although she does desire some excitement.
Senshi description:Sailor Moon's outfit is mostly white with silver linings. Her bows are white and so is her belt, although she has a silver-blue buckle with a gold moon symbol in the middle of it. Her tiara is silver with a dark blue stone that has tiny silver sparkles within it. She has delicate white sandals with a silver pearl buckles and long white gloves that go to her elbows. She has a white choker and her collar is white with two thin silver stripes. Her back bow is a long one with the tails of it falling to her knees. Her hair is arranged in a new style, this time in pigtails that stream from 2 buns at the top of her head. She has a two layer skirt, the under layer is white..while the top layer is made of silver chiffon. Her skirt also falls to just below her knees, although it doesn't restrict her movement. She wears a pair of silver pearl earrings and a silver pearl bracelet on her left arm.
Attack:Lunar Orb - this attack generates a small silver ball that she can throw at her enemy ... once it hits its target the ball explodes with a brilliant flash of silver light that creates a severe burning sensation throughout her target's body. The pain that this attack can produce is almost like their skin is being eaten away with a very intense light, although the skin doesn't actually burn away ... it only feels that way.
Items:
Ariene's henshin device is a silver brooch with a blue stone in the middle...off set by a gold crescent moon right underneath the blue stone.
Henshin sequence:
Sailor Moon holds her hand in the air and shouts, "Silver Moon Power ... Make Up!" The brooch then emits a silver light that soon engulfs her naked body starting from the brooch and spreading outwards. As the light engulfs her body it starts creating her fuka, her gloves, and her sandals. Her earrings, tiara, and bracelet are created last.
Other:
One thing that Ariene is fond of is animals. She can't stand to see a someone mistreating any kind of animal. She adores any type of furry animal, whether it is a wild creature or a tame one. She can usually befriend any animal she sets out to befriend, including the creatures from her beloved forests. She also always does her best to help out any injured creature she sees .. even going so far as to release a wounded animal from a hunter's trap.
Relationship:
Ariene really loves Farrel and considering that she has known him her entire life ... she also thinks of him as her best friend. She feels like she can share anything with him without being worried about ridicule. She also will do anything that he asks of her, even if it goes against everything that she believes in.
Although Ariene and Farrel have been trying to have children for 2 years now, they haven't been successful in that department. Sometimes it makes Ariene feel that she isn't a good enough wife for Farrel, after all she is well aware of the fact that every man wishes to have a son ... or at the very least a daughter. However, Farrel never seems to be upset .. so she never feels that way for long.
Writing Sample:Ariene stared at her father in shock for a few moments. He had to be joking ... there was no way that he could be serious.
She finally managed to whisper, "Papa ... you can't have just said what I think you said .. did you?" She stared at him in horror waiting for him to answer.
Alan sighed softly and then murmured, "Ariene ... you are 15 years old. I've been very lenient with you over the years. I've let you grow up rather wild, with only a few minor teachings on how to be a lady from Farrel's mother." He closed his eyes for a moment, before reopening them and staring at this daughter sternly.
"Your brothers are already married Ariene .. and most young ladies your age have already married someone as well. Farrel's parents are concerned that their son hasn't married anyone yet either ... and god knows who will want to marry a wild child such as yourself."
Alan winced as soon as the words had left his mouth. He could see Ariene's large blue eyes fill up with tears due to what he had said.
She hung her head and murmured, "Papa .. I'm sorry I'm such a disappointment to you. I'm sorry ...." Her words caught in her throat as she choked back a sob. "I ... I'm sorry that I'm not like mama was."
Alan sighed again ... his daughter was a very lovely girl and friendly to a fault. However, she could also be very sensitive.
"Ari, please don't cry. I didn't mean that the way it sounded. I'm only frustrated sweetheart. I don't want you to grow up with out a husband to love and whether you know it or not, Farrel and yourself are rather close. Farrel's parents have noticed this as well and figure that whether he realizes it or not ... this is probably why he has never chosen a bride."
Ariene shook her head violently and quickly said, "No no no Papa, Farrel is just my friend. That's all we are to each other and that's all we want from each other. I don't want to marry him Papa .. please, it will ruin what we do have together." She watched her father pleadingly, silently begging him to reconsider his plans.
Her father shook his head and softly replied, "I'm sorry Ariene ... but this is the way its going to be. Farrel's father and I have already arranged the wedding. You will be married to him within the next month."
Ariene nodded quickly, tears already feeling her eyes .. as she whispered respectfully, "Yes Papa ... I'll marry Farrel and ..." Once again her words caught in her throat as she attempted to fight back the sobs that wanted to overtake her small frame. She finally was able to continue, "I won't complain anymore Papa..." She then turned and fled the cottage.
Alan watched her run sadly, he knew that she was hurt and bewildered by this new turn of events. However, he also knew that what he had said was true. There had to be something deeper then friendship between Farrel and Ariene. He sighed sadly and returned to what he had been doing previously.
Ariene continued to run once she had left the cottage and toward her beloved forests. She ran until she couldn't run anymore and then dropped to the ground in an exhausted heap.
She couldn't believe her father would do this to her. She didn't want to marry Farrel ... it would probably ruin their friendship and she couldn't bare it if she lost the best friend that she had ever had.
She finally curled into a ball, sobs wracking her delicate form. She wanted to scream and cry and tell the world how much she hated her father because of this. However, she couldn't .... Ariene really didn't have the heart to hate anyone, especially her father. She was hurt and confused, but she could never hate him.
Ariene was crying so hard that she never heard the gentle cracking of a stick as someone approached her. She never even realized that someone had sat down beside her. She wasn't aware of anything, until she felt a gentle touch on her back and heard a familiar voice softly call, "Ari?"
Ariene quickly through herself into the familiar arms of Farrel and sobbingly told him what her father had said. He quietly listened to her, letting her cry to her heart's content as he offered as much comfort as he could by holding her tightly.
When her tears had finally slowed down, he murmured softly, "Ari ... would it be so bad. I know that we are only friends ... but if you think about it, we could do much worse then each other. IF we refuse to do this, our parents might find someone else to have us marry ... someone else that would be horrible. At least this way we know each other better then anyone probably does, in fact .. we might even know each other better then we know ourselves. If you think about it Ari ... although we might never be anything more then friends, it makes sense to get married .. at the very least to make certain we aren't paired with people we can't stand."
Farrel quiet for a moment, trying to think of something that he could say to cheer Ariene up. He finally smiled and added, "After all ... if you aren't careful, your father might marry you off to Baron ..." Farrel paused for added effect and then continued, "or maybe that's what you want ..."
Ariene jerked away from the comforting embrace of Farrel and stared at him in horror, before grimacing and snaping, "Farrel ... your awful! You know perfectly well that I don't like Baron. He's a horrible man ... "
She turned her back on him and continued to pout, before being suddenly pulled back into another embrace. She glanced upwards at Farrel in surprise and then started to giggle with delight. She could never stay angry at Farrel for long ... he knew her too well. She finally stopped giggling and breathlessly murmured, "I suppose your right Farrel ... it couldn't hurt to obey our parents. At the very least, we are certain to get along for the rest of our lives ..."
She was a little uneasy at the direction that her life was now headed, after all, Farrel was her friend ... she couldn't possibly feel anything other then friendship for him. She had grown up with him ... if anything he was like a big brother.
Ariene shifted uneasily in Farrel's arms as it suddenly occurred to her ... none of her brothers made her feel the things that Farrel made her feel. She had been hugged by her older brothers before ... but not one of them had her heart beating unsteadily, and not one of them could cheer her up the way Farrel always could. She silently pondered the questions flying through her head. There was no way ... Farrel was her friend and that was all.
Farrel watched the expression in Ariene's eyes change rapidly from happiness to confusion and finally asked, "Ari ... are you ok?"
Ariene glanced up at Farrel again and uneasily murmured, "I'm fine Farrel ... I ... I'm just worried that getting married would ruin our friendship." She glanced away from him ... there was absolutely no way she was about to tell him what she was really thinking. It was simply too embarrassing. With a shake of her head, Ariene forced her strange new feelings to the back of her heart and mind and smiled at her friend. "However, I'm sure everything will be fine ..."
Farrel watched her for a moment longer. He had been telling the truth when he said that they probably knew each other better then they knew themselves. He knew that she was uneasy about something, but finally chalked it up to being concerned about the future.
Farrel glanced at the sun and realized that it was beginning to set and immediately helped his friend to her feet, murmuring, "We better go home now Ari .. we wouldn't want your Father to worry about you."
She nodded quietly and allowed him to lead her back home. Once there, she murmured her goodbyes to him and then fled to her bedroom. She flung herself down onto her bed and whispered, "What in the world is wrong with me .... Farrel is just a friend .. that's all!!" She closed her eyes and tried to convince herself of that ... and eventually fell into a restless sleep.
