Avatar of Kaleena
Blysse Norwood, Avatar of Kaleena – 80-84-72-99-92-99-94 – Farmer, Marketer, Cool Mist, Medic, Irrigation, Economics, Protective Waters, Healer, Financial Affairs, Horticulturist, Cleansing Rain, Doctor, Legendary Luck, Paramount Developer , Healer's TouchPhysical Appearance:
Blysse is a slender waif of a child, appearing to be around 10 years old. She has platinum blond hair, the thick mass falling to just below her shoulders in soft curls. She usually wears it loose, but on occasion she will pin it back away from her face. She has eyes the color of a deep blue sea, although when she is angry they tend to become a stormy purplish blue. Her skin is generally always lightly tanned due to all the time she spends out of doors.
She generally prefers wearing colors that reflect her love of the sea, although on occasion she will wear other colors. Blysse generally refuses to wear shoes of any kind, except on rare occasions. The one thing that she can always be found wearing is a delicate necklace made from the finest of pearls.
Personality:
Blysse’s personality is as changing as the sea that she adores. Most of the time she is gentle and calm, however she can turn stormy and unforgiving at a moments notice. She prefers to wander the seashores alone, but on occasion she welcomes company, especially those that share her love of the sea.
She doesn’t particularly care overly much for the problems of mortal kind, however if she takes pity on someone she will do her best to aid them in whatever way she can. She especially prefers those that strive to better themselves and the people they associate with.
Blysse knows that at times her goddess will often overlook any slight when someone chooses not to do as she asks. However, Blysse doesn’t feel that way. She feels that if you are granted any bounty from the sea at all you should properly give back to Kaleena, or if one of your relatives was blessed enough to be saved from drowning then you should send one of your family members into Kaleena’s service without any misgivings.
Kaleena might overlook these slights at times, but Blysse doesn’t. If she happens to see someone not doing as her goddess requests then she will consider it her responsibility to see that you do everything within your power to once again redeem yourself in her eyes.
Although Blysse appears to be one of the youngest of the avatars, she is far from being so. She has been wandering her beloved seashores for longer then even she can remember, maybe not quite the oldest of the avatars but she is over a thousand years old.
Although Kaleena is generous and giving, Blysse is in essence a spoiled child. Those that seek her out will do well to remember that as a child she adores receiving gifts, especially those that pertain to her beloved sea. Once someone has gained her interest she might choose to help that person master a new skill, or perhaps choosing to heal them of any injuries they might possess. However, those that seek her out would do well to remember that she rarely forgives any slights to her goddess or herself, unless that person does everything within their power to redeem themselves.
History:
Blysse was born in the year 258 to a wealthy sea merchant’s family. Her parents, whom only had 4 strapping sons until Blysse was born, cherished the little girl and spoiled her to no end. Her brothers took no offense at the fact that their little sister was cherished so by their parents, in fact they tended to be quite overprotective of their beloved sister.
The family gave Blysse everything she ever asked for, even going so far as to sail half the world to buy find her the most expensive and perfect pearls for a necklace she desired. However, even though Blysse was indeed a spoiled and petted child, she had a generous soul deep inside. She never once forgot to give part of anything she ever got to the goddess that she favored. In fact when her family presented her with 16 of the finest pearls in the world, she gently took the most beautiful one of the bunch and gave it back to the oceans from whence it came in honor of the goddess that allowed such beautiful treasures of the sea to be found.
As she was growing up, Blysse did everything within her power to honor her chosen goddess, as well as making those around her do the same. She even went so far as bullying an old fisherman into giving the best of his catch back to the sea at one point.
The people that knew Blysse always gossiped that the little girl was a spoiled brat of a child, demanding the best of everything and not doing anything to deserve such trinkets. They knew that she loved the sea and honored Kaleena, however it was only her family that knew that she always returned the best of her gifts back to the sea that gave them to her. However, even these people would freely admit that Blysse would give up all of her treasured possessions if her beloved family ever needed her to do so. Everyone that knew anything about the spoiled child knew that her most treasured possessions were her family. She adored her family even more then she loved the sea, cherishing the time she spent with any one of them. This was the reason why everyone believed that Blysse would turn from both Kaleena and the sea when tragedy struck her family.
It was on the morning of her 10th birthday that her family took Blysse and her friends out to sea to celebrate. She loved sailing and so on every one of her birthdays the family would take the day off and go out upon the water. The day was bright and sunny, however it quickly turned into an atrocious storm. The storm blew in without warning and the family had no chance to sail the ship back into safe harbor. The ship winded up sinking, drowning every member of Blysse’s family as well as the three friends that Blysse had chosen to bring with her on the outing. The only one that survived was little Blysse and it was a miracle that she did so, clinging to pieces of the ship for several days until someone managed to find and rescue her.
She was sick and delirious for several weeks, often crying out for her family’s safe return. The people that cared for her during this time were sure that if the little girl survived her fever she would turn upon the goddess she so loved before, believing her to be so angry that her family were taken from her.
It was nearly two months before she fully regained her health, a time in which the only talking she had done was to cry out deliriously for her family. The first thing that she had done when she was allowed out of bed was to immediately go to Kaleena’s nearest temple. The townsfolk were certain that this would be the point in which she turned her back upon the goddess she worshiped. However, the little girl surprised them all.
Blysse bravely donated all of her family’s wealth to the temple to be done with whatever they thought best. The only thing she insisted upon keeping was the necklace that her family had gone to such lengths to get for her. She then asked to be taken into the service of Kaleena. Once she had been accepted, Blysse sent a silent prayer to the goddess herself …
“I know that I must have done something wrong to displease you my lady. I hope to spend the rest of my life doing whatever it takes to win your forgiveness …”
Later that night, while Blysse was asleep, the goddess of whom she worshipped paid her a visit in her dreams …
“My child, you have done nothing wrong … you are one of my most beloved followers. There are things that happen within this world that happen for no more reason then a tragedy occurs. I had no wish to take your family from you and I only wish I could return them to you … however since I can not I shall gift you in other ways. Stay my loyal follower and you shall reap the benefits of loyalty …”
Blysse didn’t understand then and Kaleena left without explaining. However, it didn’t take her more then a year or two to understand that Kaleena had given her something akin to agelessness provided she always remained loyal. Over the years the two had many such talks, Kaleena coming to her during her dreams to explain things or make requests.
The little girl soon left her hometown, not wishing for anyone to wonder why she never aged anymore … but also to do the things her goddess requested of her. She spent her time wandering and searching for those that honored Kaleena, as well as those that Kaleena wished to gift in some way.
It has been some time since any of the histories have recorded the appearance of the little sea child, but wherever and whenever her mistress needs her; she is sure to appear again.
